Many important points have been made in this thread. There are many officers that feel it is their personal duty to screw as many people over in a day as they can. BUT...there are equally as many officers that will go out of their way to help someone in need. I experienced both.

I have been pulled over for speeding several times. The one and only ticket I got was in Wisconsin and the cop read me the riot act. He accused me of driving to fast in "daddy's car" (my brand new Saturn) and asked why I wasn't in school (this was at 9:00am). He was going with information he had assumed rather than what he knew as fact. Yeah, it sucks...but I deal. I look more like 17 rather than 24. Not the end of the world.

I totally agree with Jontour. Officers have a job to do...protect and serve. That's just what they are doing. We need to give them credit. They put themselves in harms way each and everyday. If you get pulled over...there's a reason. And if you're given a ticket or written/verbal warning...you deserved it. Tickets are written to individuals who break the law. Any law. Don't take it as a personal assualt...just take the ticket and LEARN from it!!

I assure you, you will at some point in your life meet an officer who will want to help you or doing something you would never expect. When I was a child I was a passenger in a vehicle with a driver who was drunk. By law, I was to be taken to juvenile hall until a parent could be contacted. The state patrol officer that had pulled us over was kind enough to change his report and drive me home. He certainly didn't have to do that. But, he did. I will forever be greatful.
