Love my SVT. Only one minor repair by Ford dealer. Good experience.
As a former BMW owner, I can tell you the BMW repairs are alot more expensive and no more reliable
The SVT is perfect from the factory...quit modding them!
Want reliable? Buy a Honda or Toyota.

I'd do it again and I may still for that matter. I made the mistake of test driving a SVT the other day for the fisrt time ever......This was a stupid thing to do. Anyways I traded my 98 ZX2 in for the 95 that I have because I knew from my Mystique experience what I was getting. I say this even after having had the engine replaced on my Mystique and the dreaded water pump, and catelitic convertor failures on the Contour. Got to love handing some unexpecting people their ass.

My old 97 was OK, had a few bugs after 55K. Also, I wouldn't have spent money trying to fix the tire noises I had. $500 for new struts and then the tires were still noisy after awhile.
I did like it enough to get my 2000 SE v6.
2000 SE fleet, V6, ATX, ABS, no spoiler, T-Green/tan. Built 01/2000 in MO. Added 12 spoke factory SE rims, K&N. Biggest mod: ESP Plan!

Yes, but it would have been an SVT.

Darn right...
I looked at the car and knew it was mine...
Wait, I actually look at a lot of cars thinking that...
No seriously though, I wouldn't change my mind at all...

This is my third 'tour, and I wouldn't change it for the world.. I had a 95LX, and a 96SE.. Both put over 115,000 on it with no problems (aside from the almost inevitable waterpump failure...)
This 98.5 SVT has given me no troubles, and I plan on keeping it until it disentegrates.
(I don't know WHAT I would ever do if I was to total my car... they don't MAKE 'tours anymore.. lol I am sold on this line of car..

Not a chance in hell.. If I had known that the "exclusivity" of owning an SVT wouldn't mean jack when I tried to sell the car, I would have just bought a Cobra instead.

If I could do it over again I wouldn't have bought the one that I did. I have replaced almost everything under the hood. But someday down the road I will buy another SVT Contour. My first one was perfect. Girlfriend totaled it. My second one was a lemon. I wonder what my third one will be like.
1998.5 Contour SVT ****Mods**** KKM Intake/Custom Exhaust/Custom Spoiler/B&M Short Throw Shifter/Eibach Springs/and of course a stereo ****Future Mods**** I have plenty in mind. All spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and stupid comments are intentional. Check out my car http://www.stlsp.com/freeborncontour.html Let me know what you think

No. I know learn from experience, so does Ford. Unfortunately, their lack of support made it a forgone conclusion. If I had known that, I wouldn't have bothered, but all dealer promises aside, I know better. $23k would have been better spent (ok maybe a bit more) on a real BMW, Lexus or Audi. At least the warranty would still be there and less worries. As an investment, it tanks. But it IS a fun car, I really don't regret having the title in the glovebox...nice car, poor support. If they offered an SVT right now, with fixes and better warranty, I would trade up to one, assuming a decent trade-in. Which ain't a poss. so hence my no vote.
98 CSVT, basic mod's, my slowest car yet but still faster than the wife's Talon Tsi AWD. Not by much, though. Now if I could get the back wheels to do something....
