I've heard that FC.Org and MEG might join together to create something cool - Looks like CEG is going to be left out because of it's members alone, judged by the idiotic, prejudiced and mis-informed members and here-sayers that make it up. I wonder why I don't ever post here, it's good for a laugh when people that don't have a clue open their mouth and talk stuff about a subject that no one knows anything about.
Like Lance said, he does not want CEG to become a business. This is a hobby and pleasure for him, and that's what I gather is his meaning. To FC.Org and MEG it's business - So you tell me who's more serious about being there for the members? Donate, donate, donate - Please. Donations are a crutch that will only help for so long. Memberships will cure the short term problem but as members here sell their cars and move on - The battle for new memberships drops off and the site goes away. Maybe not tomorrow, maybe not this year - Maybe not next. But it's inevitable. I'm a marketing director for a large telecommunication firm - I've seen it happen to little dot.commers over and over again.
Make fun of FC.Org. Go ahead - But when it's still here because it's making money because it's owner is being capatalistic - and also working with other Ford sites to make a great community for owners (Don't cry me a river)!
John
P.S. Can anyone even tell me the event that started FC.Org? I asked the source and got the right info... How many of you know?
Wanting one site over another has nothing to do with marketing. CEG was the first successful CDW-27 site on net first and has been around the longest, that's why there's the cry for help... to keep the icon alive.
If contour.org did meet it's demise, you think anything would end up different on FC.org??? Perhaps the moderator hats would be on different heads, but the same players would migrate there playing our day to day roles... the same power struggles would eventually result. When FC.org gets the traffic all of us on one site can generate, let's see if the same capatalistic attitude keeps it running.
BTW, congrats on keeping the job Matt.
