Can someone explain to me why it takes GM 3.2 litres to make 211 hp? Ford could get that from a highly massaged 2.5

Ford likes small but advanced engines. GM prefers good ole raw displacement.

It DOES look like a Passat, at least the side profile. And those wheels look like they came right off an A4 Jetta GL!

GM is going to actaully bring us a Euro car, unlike Ford. The Opel Vectra will be the 2004 Malibu, introduced next spring.

We have to wait until 2006 for a Ford version of the Mazda 6. Or 2005 for the Ford 500, which will be alot bigger than Mondeos.

well, another question is why does it take Ford 4.6L and eight cylinders to make 320hp (99 Cobra) while BMW can take a 3.2 inline six and make 333hp (E46 M3)?

I think you answered your own question there.

...and in the process of becoming a Malibu (i.e., in order to fit mainstream American tastes), the Vectra will be given crummy seats, a squishy suspension, and bad tires, not to mention terrible controls for the driver (A/C, wipers, cruise, etc.).

Unless Bob Lutz puts his money where his mouth is...
