Congrats Mike. My call sign in K5SVT. I don't really listen much to my radio, but I will start. With me being in Arlington, the best repeater would be 146.880 in Dallas, but it is pretty busy. A quieter one is the Texas Instruments repeater which is 145.430. Both can cover the distance from Arl to Carrollton. I can also try the Carrollton repeater at 145.210, but I don't know how far west it covers. We can just try some different ones. Let me know when you get a radio, and I'll give you a holler. Catch ya at the next meeting.

It's cool. I knew what you meant. I process ham radio test sessions on a daily basis. I sleep, breath and eat call signs. Not a fun industry to work in. If you need some tips on what radios to buy, email me and I will list some good ones. n5afd@hotmail.com
