PA 3L SVT : I think he just doesn't want the rates to go up... Or he wouldn't have a problem telling them...

Ray : Well I do live with my parents... So this is why I am not covered...

Josch : Well I was doing about 45-50 MPH down the street, like I have done a 1000 times before... I came around the turn and there he was... I had no time to react...

Your rates can't go up from a comprehensive claim. Hitting a deer is considered like a tornado, or a falling rock or a flood or something. It's just a natural phenomenon that you can't avoid. My insurance didn't go up at all.
Also, I would think you are covered, because most parents plans include their kids on it while they live at home, unless they specifically state otherwise. One way to find out for SURE is to read the policy terms (if you still got in the filing cabinet), or else you can make a simple 5 min. phonecall to the Claims Dept. and ask. Your rates can't go up just for asking:)

I never really understood the "I don't want to report it to insurance" theory. My policy specifically states that rates won't change unless they pay $900 or more under a collision or liability claim that I am at fault on. Besides, I have their "safe driver" discount (3 yrs w/o a $900+ at fault coll or liability claim = 5% off, 6 yrs = 10% off, 9 yrs = 15% off and a freebie) so I would get a freebie before any of that kicked in. And if hitting a deer is comprehensive, it wouldn't matter anyway. But that's just my State Farm policy - your milage may vary.

I hit something, my car get damaged while parked on the street; I call my agent. If anyone wants to have insurance that they'll never use, they might as well have a huge deductible ($1000) just to cover really major damage and pay cheaper premuims. No sense in paying for insurance you aren't going to use.

Hmmm I will have to talk to my dad about it... He told me that I wasn't covered by his insurance... I don't know why the deductible is so low on this car...hell insurance is only $65 a month... Can't get much cheaper than that... But again, that's whith the car under my dads name...For me lowest quote I have got so far is about $920 every 6 months... or about $190 a month...

$190 BUCKS A MONTH!!! Who was that from? I get full coverage insurance for my secured car loan from Progressive for $110, and I even got 2 speeding tickets on my record.

Keep in mind that premiums can change DRASTICALLY, depending on your location. My uncle and aunt actually went through the trouble of moving two blocks down the road, because it put them in a different county, and their insurance decreased by about 20-25%...
