Hi guys.

I will be running a car show in Downers Grove at the Tweeter store on 75th street. There will be plaques in various classes and Tweeter gift certificates to several Best of Show winners. PLUS, the club with the largest participation gets a $100 gift certificate to the Award Authority. This can be used to buy some club awards or even trophies if the club were to hold its own car show.

Let's get the CCEG to show up and claim that $100!!

Oh, and yes, there will also be a stereo competition going on too, but you don't have to have a nice stereo to enter the car show.

There will be additional Tweeter car shows on August 4th at the West Dundee store and on August 25th at the Schaumburg store. Each event will have the $100 club prize up for grabs.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Here is some additional information about the car show.

Registration will be from 8-11AM. Judging may start at any time, even before 11AM, just be sure to register prior to 11AM.

Three competition formats will be offered: Car Show, Sound Quality, SPL. Entry fees are $30 to enter any one format, $50 for any 2 and $60 to enter all three.

The car show judging is done with a maximum of 52 points possible. We do not use the 100 point scale with deductions for phantom flaws. Here is what is on the scoresheet for judging a SLAP event: (Scale: 1=needs improvement; 2=average; 3=above average; 4=superb; 5=perfect)

Membership and/or SLAP logo (0, 1 or 2 pts)
Presentation & Display (1-5 pts) (you give verbal presentation of car to the judge)
Under Carriage (1-5 pts)
Engine Compartment (1-5 pts)
Performance Enhancement (1-5 pts)
Exterior (1-5 pts)
Interior (1-5 pts)
Trunk/Hatch/Bed/etc (1-5 pts)
Sound System (1-5 pts) (yes, an OEM system is fine!!)
Bonus Points (0-10 pts) (points awarded for unique ideas, applications, extraordinary effort, etc)

That's it.

There are three divisions used: Stock, Advanced, and Ultimate

Stock classes have:
- stock body & engine
- Stock Suspension
- No Body Kits
- No major vehicle modifications
- Bolt-on parts only

Advanced classes have:
- Stock Body and Engine
- Modified suspension
- bolt-on body kits
- Extensive bolt-on parts
- paint customization

Ultimate classes have:
- Extensive body modifications
- Extensive engine modifications
- Extensive vehicle modifications

Within each of these, the entrants are classified by type of vehicle. These are the types identified (can be combined if not sufficient numbers in each class):

Acura
Antique
Classic Car
Dodge Neon
Dodge-other
European

GM
Honda Accord
Honda Civic
Honda CRX
Honda Prelude

Oh, I almost forgot...

Anthony Davis (2DEEP2) will be there as well with his Silver SVT. He is one of my judges for the car stereo contest. You've got to come see his car.

TTT

I hope to see many of you on Sunday in Downers Grove!!

Remember, there is a $100 gift certificate for the group just waiting to be had (have to have at least 5 there for it to qualify as a group!!).

Story: This weekend there is a major car show going on down in the Atlanta, GA area that is being hosted by a car club. That club is using $1,500 worth of these same gift certificates they won over the past couple years to buy HUGE trophies for the show. They did it, CCEG can too!!

Take care.
