Bill,

I'm afraid that with today's technology there is no way to put more than 4.7GB of data on a DVD-R or DVD-RAM disc.

Sony is working on a DDDVD-R/RAM drive as we speak, to complement its DD-R/RW drive for CDs.
The DD-R/RW is a Double Density (Double Sided) CD-R/RW disc.
The DDDVD-R/RW is a Double Sided DVD-R/RW disc.
The drive can read and write to BOTH sides of the disc, without flipping the disc.

I haven't heard anything about the drive being available, but with DVD-R and RW drives in the neighborhood of $400+, I don't think this drive will be around for at least another 6 months to a year.

Is there anyway for you to ZIP the info and possible give the ZIP file on a DVD ?
Then we can unzip it to a hard drive.

On the root directory of my '95 cars CD, there are directories for evtm, pced, and service -- I don't know if the DVD is the same, but if it is maybe it'd be possible to remove one of those directories to make room and still have the software work. (I'd suggest making an "evtm" and a "service" disc).

Bill -

I'd be interested in a Zipped DVD copy of the 97-02 Manuals if you can get it to fit... laugh

The only question is will the program read off the HD vs looking for it on the DVD drive?

They are consumable parts at work. If I order one for a service call, and don't need it, I can't return it.

No, I'm not going to order a bunch of DVD-ROM drives.

Besides, not many of you have SCSI in your systems at home.

I got SCSI, I think I have a solaris box that you might need to look at *wink wink* *nudge nudge* laugh

Roadrunner,

I am already trying to go the ZIP way. I am trying to use either WinACE or WinZip to accomplish this. I will be working on it over the weekend. Maybe I will try to do an ISO image and then ZIP it.

I have also been able to copy the info onto the HD and have it work with out the DVD. It would take up about 6.8gb. You must have this amount of free space in order to have it run correctly.

JavaContour, send one of those SCSI drives on over to me would ya, let me know if you need my address

this old fart has to ask, if the Ford's dvd has 6.8 and the consumer DVD can only do( write) 4.7 for now, what the difference. The Ford is done with a different protocal or format? I guess I'm going to have start Google searching. That or give up and just go fishing. HiHi
