Much has been said on the issue of "who has the right to say what". And I agree totally that everyone has the right to say whatever they choose to say. This is something that cannot be taken away from us.
I have never implied that anyone in this group should be silenced, and certainly will not start now.
The problem is exactly contrary to what Ron was talking about, in that he tried to explain that he never directly slammed anyone on here. In my post on my new mods that got locked thanks to Ron's snide comments, he totally rips on Joe and proceeds to total verbal assault, DIRECTLY aimed at him.
This is what set me off. Plus the fact that most of Ron's posts that I have read were very cynical of the Contour generally.
And what about the comment in his sig?
I will say it again, perhaps to shed some light on the real controversy that is taking place. This conflict has not arisen out of someone trying to prevent someone from speaking their mind. It has arised due to the abvious fact that a person has made a comment or two, that has gotten the attention from the members of this group, and then trying to turn it around and blame the other side for not reading into his words correctly.
How can you possibly say Ron that you did not mean to demean our cars after your numerous comments over the course of time?
As for your comments wasting money on Contours, that is indeed your opinion. What you are not understanding is that by doing this, you are directly poking fun at every person in this entire club, including yourself since you bought the car too.
And another thing too. The reason I became irritated at this whole situation is that every time I tried to confront you, you would spin it around and make me look like the aggressor in the situation. I asked you if you hated the car so much why didn't you get rid of it then. There was no answer. You hate it and you still have it... What for? To abuse it or what? Only you can answer this.
As for ethics, I don't believe that you posses any. Though you are entitled to express your own opinions as much as you want, ridiculing those of us who chose to upgrade our cars, and then returning to call us babies by getting upset that we threw a backlash against you... So let me get this: You are a Contour owner > hate the car > think we are stupid for upgrading it > we are babies for being upset > Milan is trying to take your opinion away... Please!!
I'll repeat this again: When I joined this group, I joined b/c I saw that these people worked hard for the cars that they love, and generally seemed to be cool people. Among these cool people I saw the common sentiment that they enjoyed their cars. Thus I thought that the right move would be to join such a club. And I did, as the appreciation of the Contour was ultimate.
Now we come to the present situation, where a Contour owner is bashing their own car. I certainly love my car, as does Kevin and Joe and the rest of the gang. To hear all this negativity is simply out of place combined with the attitude behind those that do it.
I believe that I made my point cristal clear here, and I would appreciate if those that have something to say to me directly please not distort the truth about what I said.
Lastly, Mike, as you can read yourself, I never suggested that we kick Ron out of here, he suggested that we tell him to leave.
When I said that he will be forced out, I was reffering to what happens when the entire group no longer can tolerate a member, and the best example of this was CarDoc.
We have a night meet still in place this Friday, so those of you that can make it please come by and we'll chat some.
Peace to all, and happy Contouring!
