Mike boy,
You do not have to join Midwest Council to be a spectator. If you are on the fence with your decision, I suggest just come to watch the race and see what you think. We can use the support! Nothing like a Ford Contique cheering section to cut down our track times!
There is no separation of spectators and racers at BFR. There are some bleachers you can sit on, but for the most part, you just mingle with the racers and enjoy the show. I'm willing to bet you'll catch the racing bug by noon!
SpreeBoy,
Personally, I did not get much from the parking lot autocross in terms of high speed car control. I found my SVT not very well suited for the slow corners - it understeered like hell. Seems that the softer front sway bar (compared to the non-SVT 'tours) trades some slow-speed cornering for better high-speed corner control. That may explain why the non-SVT 'tours did so much better than the SVTs at last year's Spring Zing Cup.
However, any 'at the limit' experience, even if it's only at 30mph is better than none.
Maybe we can meet up and drive there together. If you leave on Saturday morning, you have to leave mighty early - if you are racing, you need to get there by 7:00-7:30am!
