Well, the outlet would have been nice to have, but the spl meters do have batteries. I'd just have to make sure they were fully charged. Either that or get our hands on a little portable generator.
Do have a question though. How long as SLAP been around? Also as for the planning that would be a pretty descent ride for you up to Byron. You do know that dont you?
The Sound Looks And Performance Association (SLAP) is new in 2002 as a sactioning body. However, SLAPshow.com (the creator of the SLAP Association) has been doing turn-key IASCA sanctioned car audio event management since 1996 and hosting show-n-shine events since 2000. There are already 8 SLAP-sanctioned events going on in northern and central Illinois in 2002, with a few more in the pipeline that may or may not come to fruition.
For any more information about SLAP, please check out their website
www.slapshow.com or ask me and I'll try to answer as best I can.
As for the ride to Byron, it is up by Rockford, isn't it? I wouldn't actually need to be there until the morning of the event, really. My planning would be to coordinate with whomever is going to be coming from SLAP to do the show (which would be one of 3 people, and I might be one of those three the way the year is going) and make sure the proper promotion occurs and the certified judges get lined up. I might even be able to line up a few manufacturer demo vehicles if they are available.
The catch: I _might_ be limited on the date availability... I am hoping to be able to piggy back the Byron event with another SLAP-sanctioned event in Canton, IL (which has yet to be assigned a date) if at all possible. That way the guy from SLAP can come up from Georgia and do both shows in a single weekend. But a lot of things would need to fall into place for that to happen. It would be wonderful if it did, but it doesn't mean the show couldn't happen if it didn't.
Question: would the racing at Byron be on a Saturday or Sunday? or does it matter?
And of course, this is all based on whether or not people want it to happen at Byron at all. I just thought it would be good to have multiple automotive activities going on at the same place, but maybe the facility can't accomodate it.
Just let me know.
