If you have a 2000+ Contigue/Cougar, try holding the cruise OFF button while turning the ignition from OFF to ON (not start). If the cruise light comes on, you have one of the newer cruise control modules with an interesting manual self-test (the sequence above is just the first step of the operator interventions to trigger the self-test). This series of modules have also been used for several other FMC products.
