Good Lord, I think I've pulled a NE-CEG and stole the topic. wink

Same here. The problem is that many MA drivers still have their 30-year-old plates (when only one plate was issued). This rule was only instituted when they started doing two plates for a car (about 10 years ago).

I wish I lived in Georgia!!!! Apart from the culture shock, the lack of 'silly' rules would be nice!

Hey Matthew -

Why is it that there are so many Mass plates? I see white with green nos., white with red, white with blue, The Spirit of America, etc. Do you just get to keep your plates until they aren't readable anymore?

I for one was happy to get the new Chickadee plates instead of the lobster! Maine was the only state to have a dead animal on their license plates! laugh laugh

Hey, don't you go forgetting New Hampshire ... "LIVE FREE OR DIE!" on every plate!

You are correct here - in MA you can keep your plates (as long as they are only the green+white kind or newer) until they're unreadable. This means that some plates out there are about 35 years old or more. Believe it or not, some cars have had all the green paint worn off, and are still using that plate instead of replacing it. eek

We also have, in addition to vanity plates, several kinds of plates. The newest default is the red, white and blue with four numbers and two letters. If you pay extra, you can get a plate with a picture on the left (i.e. Blackstone Valley edition, Cape Cod edition, etc.). If you want more info, the MA RMV has a website. For some reason my browser won't let me do anything outside CEG right now ( ) so I can't figure what it is.

Anyway, back to the original topic .... laugh
