I have a 95 contour, and I know this sounds stupid, but how much oil does the 2.5 V6 hold? I did not get a factory manual with the car, so I have no idea. Also is there a better oil to run in these motors? I usually run synthetic in all my cars.

The manual says 5.8 quarts. I use a full 6 quarts. Make sure to use 5W30.

The 2.5 take 5.8 quarts of oil. the 2.0 are like 4 1/2 quarts or something, mobil 1 syn is the best oil out there (just my 2cents)

6 qts...it's safe to overfill to 6.5, and a good idea IMO

I run 6.5 quarts of Mobil 1 after reading that post about the results that Roush got on our motors, less than a pint of oil at 5K eek The post seemed to be legit and I went with it.

a motor that doesn't go boom!

I don't think the heads of the duratec hold 6 qts of oil...I think the spun bearing problem is more crank whip like terry said...however, since 6.5 qts. is safe, it's a worthwhile precaution to take.

My Zetec holds 4.5 qts, but I put in 5 qts...If you take a hard right turn with the RPM's high it could cause oil starvation, which will/can make your engine go BOOOOOOOM! Put in a 1/2 qt more than it holds, you should be alright. I know a guy around here that puts 7 qts in his 98 SE Duratec, and the car is still running.
