Lance, please post as to what specifically is the issue.

I know I've been pissed off by some folks and their attitude to people asking questions but I try to ignore them. Let us know as a group what the issue(s) are and maybe folks will reflect on their behavior and change.

Sincerely....Mark

Well, What about co-location? Would cyberwings hold the box and give it a link for the same (or better) price? That way server load wouldn't be shared with other clients of theirs, and it would sit on a reasonable pipe.

I came across this site: http://calpop.com/ in my ventures. Their website looks cheesy, but 100gb for $88 sounds pretty good.

It may be time to consider allowing advertisers to get a piece of the traffic that moves across this site. I know banners and pop up windows are a pain but it would help solve the revenue problem. If letting the CEG die is a consideration then you might as well consider ad revenue. Just a thought.

Talk is cheap.

Just ask Terry about Aussie bars... A whole bunch line up with pledges to buy, and vaporize as soon as the product appears.

I'm NOT going to sign up for something with the promise of support and be left holding the bag. Ain't gonna happen.

So far, none of the hosting I've seen really meets all of our needs. The few that get close are over $200/month. I just bought a house, so I can't afford to front that in case of a shortage. I foresee a lot of the same people being burdened with the outlay of cash every month because the others won't want to front any. Would you want to play accountant every month to make sure this thing kept going?

Ads and membership fees will change things considerably as fars as traffic and interaction. That, and I'm not willing to start a business and be liable for taxes, etc. just to keep this thing going. Would you?

I really don't see any solutions beyond someone else providing a T1 for free like we have currently.

Heck ya!! Depending on how much traffic this site sees and how badly the advertisers want to dip into the middle of it all, this could be quite a profitable little side venture! So you don't want to deal with paper work and taxes? Hire a small local tax accountant or lawyer with a small percentage of the proceeds from this site. Money in your pocket as far as I'm concerned. Use some of it to pay the mortgage in that new house...

Never!

I too will admit that I haven't donated. With my jobs being in limbo since September I have been more worried about actually keeping my car.

However, having everyone saying that we need to find someone with a T1 line isn't going to do anything. The CEG needs to live. Are popup ads even going to help? How many people are actually going to click on them? How many people have popup killers on their computer? Having the ads isn't going to do any good if we never see them.

Anyway, I can't currently think of any real good ideas on new hosting. I can totally see Lance's point of not wanting to be tied to this and his house.

Putting up dues or a required fee to use the forums won't help. If I was a newbie and I just found the site I wouldn't want to fork over the cash to see if the site contained what I was looking for.

One thing that I think would be helpful (once hosting is found). If the site is kept as donations only having something like this up in the right corner would be helpful. This way everyone will see it no matter what part of the forum they are in.
