The embargo on some of the images was recently lifted, so look for them early next week. -Matt

http://www.commondriver.com/e03doneon0106.asp Okay, that's stock performance at under 20k dollars. Wait till the mopar performance parts come out "the SRT-4's engine should have enormous potential to make additional power with a few aftermarket upgrades. And that will make street racers very happy when this car hits the streets in 2003" Right above that is a pic of a boost gauge that goes to 15 psi :-)

That 2.4L Turbo churns out 205hp@5400 and 220tq@2000. That's good for *maybe* mid 14 second runs.
We'll see. There's still the transmission that the power has to be transferred through. *smirk*
Matt I don't necessarily (sp?) agree with the above statement. I think that the numbers the other guy posted are pretty close to accurate from what I've experienced and seen in the past. The Dodge numbers should indicate something around high 13's, maybe low 14's.

Ok. How bout this: In my opinion, the only way the SRT-4 could hit a 13.7 1/4 mile time is if the test track were located on the (downward) side of a mountain. Look at the WRX. 5.7 to 60, 14.4 1/4 mile. That's with AWD. I'm looking at the presskit now. The SRT-4 weighs 2970 pounds. Light, but not featherweight. This is, after all, a compact car. No mention of an LSD (limited-slip) although it has equal length half-shafts. So do Saturns. It did mention the aftermarket/Mopar parts bin potential, so I'm sure there will be someone who buys it and trys to make it as fast as a Viper. I'll let you know how it acts when we get our mitts on one. -Matt

Isn't Dodge going to cover this car under its 7/70,000 mile powertrain warranty. If so I would expect this car to come from factory with a beefed up everything. And this engine includes an Iron block with all sorts of forged parts to make the car a tuners dream. Same engine goes into the PT Cruiser. PT says 215HP while reports of 205HP for Neon?

Mopar will have several upgrade kits for the SRT. Bigger turbo, better IC, upgraded computer... Why argue what 1/4 mile time when it's not even out? They have to detune the car just for the warranty. Neon SRT-4 and here is a picture for everyone : As for this patient having a prototype.. Show us some photos! (Please )

I came in just after he left, hopefully I will get to catch him there with it next week.

5.9 sec 0-60 performance stock off the showroom floor and all for under $20k, making it by far the quickest production car for under $20,000. Makes me proud that I work for them. Now if they put that engine in the PT Cruiser my wife wants to get in a few years...oh yes!
