Atmospheric conditions matters. And so does height above or below sea level. And running on as little gas as possible is to your advantage. Water weighs 8lbs a gallon, and I dunno what gas weighs, but full gas tank would slow you down. And don't rely on published performance figures. Those are done under weird conditions usually hard to duplicate.

By the way, 17.45 is really bad for an SVT. My 95 SE with an AUTOMATIC can run a 17.8! Also, did you powershift? And a short throw might shave a bit of time off.

With these Transmissions in these cars, I would only recommend power shifting if your car is still under warranty.

Short-throw would work, but when shifiting just shift as fast as your ass can shift, if your on a stock shifter.

i did power shift, and i have a 100,000 mile warrenty so i'm alright in that aspect. i also just got a new trans put in a week before i took it to the track. i put about 700 miles on before though. i had less then a half a tank of gas too. something is wrong with the car. has to be, cause black98svt ran almost 2 seconds better then me and we were at the same track. well im taking it to the dealer tomorrow, so we'll see what happens.
