Alright, so my mother and I traded cars on Friday because it was my last day of H.S. and I dind't want paint all over my Mystique wink so I took her Explorer all painted up and such, and she took the Mystique to work Friday morning... BAD IDEA! Some jobbers tarring I-96 between brighton and Kensington used the WRONG TAR and it mixed with the morning's rain and got all over every car on the road! So now my poor Mystique is covered front to back with a nice thick film of tar... I called mDOT today and they said that they are going to reimburse everyone for the trouble caused. I took a lot of pictures, I'll post them soon, but what I want to know is how to get all this gunk off without using a ton of Bug and Tar remover.... Any ideas? I'll have pics later today, thanks guys!

-Dave

P.S. - all that just so I could have a painted car for school... It makes me laugh how stupid I am!

My buddy at work had the same thing happen to him. But the bad thing is, he has a F-250 with a lift kit on it. I seen it this morning and it looked bad. He said it is going to take him hours to get it off. I feel for ya.

Classic Apreciation in Birmingham. I've honestly never seen cars any cleaner than what they leave that place looking like. However it also reflects in the their price somewhat.

Hah, if you saw my car you wouldn't think it belongs to a "cheap highschooler" wink

Anyways I just took Kingston lighter fluid to it (lol!) and the stuff came right off... About 100+ rags and eight hours later that is... Some Meguiars Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner took off any excess residue, then I used some #7 Show Car polish on it, and followed with a good Gold Class waxing today... Meguiars is alright but I'm planning on getting some Zaino soon wink

I'm planning on repainting it soon though, dunno why I bothered putting so much time into the existing paint, guess I'm obsessed laugh

Hmmmm, I guess you've never seen the cars that come out of my driveway and no I'm not talking about mine wink I wonder what they charge to do a full detail and 3 step, I bet its more than $150.00  As far as the road tar, I'd use Goo Gone or WD40, yes I said WD40, it works, trust me and WILL NOT hurt the cars finish. Just wash the car real good and apply a coat of wax and your all set wink
