Well we have almost exhausted all of the semi-fine restaurants around the local area (that I know of at least). Anybody have any other suggestions about places to eat for nice dinners?

So far we have gone here:

Pasquales
Big Rock - tonite
Olgas
Arbys (real fancy, )

Could also go to Tribute in Farmington Hills, about the same price eek .

Since you are in Birmingham, check out 220 Merrill. The atmosphere is a little snobby for me, but I can't complain about the food. I also dig Pita Cafe (Woodward, N of Maple) for cheap middle eastern food.

If you make it down to my neck of the woods, Royal Oak, go for 4th Street Brewery, Tom's Oyster Bar, and my favorite cheap bar Ye Olde Saloon (the place has never seen natural light).

Alright guys, your killing me here! laugh All these suggestions and I don't know where they are! $100/ea is kinda steep, looking for a max of $30-40/ea for the max. What type of food are all these places your mentioning? We have Changs down by us in VA but never been there, is it IN the mall? And what is 220 Merrill? I saw Bahama Breeze when we went down to FL a few months back but didnt get a chance to try it, what do they have?

220 Merrill (Merrill and Pierce, downtown B'Ham) is just a pseudo fancy 'American' restaurant. It runs about $30-40 depending on how much you drink.

I have yet to try it, but WOW the giant red and black building on Woodward (across from Pasquales, a little to the north) is supposed to be good asian food.

Dick O'Dows in Birmingham (Maple, west of Woodward) is a decent Irish Restaurant. mmmmm Guiness, mmmmm Caffrey's.

Oh I forgot, one last place that everyone loves. Sweet Lorraine's on Greenfield just north of 13 Mile. I have never heard anyone complain about it. Prices work out to $50 or so for 2 people.

Finally, if you want some good italian food, Maria's in Ferndale (9 mile west of Woodward) comes highly recommended. But you must call ahead (248) 542-7379 because the place is tiny.

EDIT: I made myself hungry typing all this. I see myself eating at Dick O'Dows tonight smile .

PF Changs is right in Somerset mall. Great restautrant too. There's also a place called Forte (accent over the E) right in Birmingham. It's on old Woodward just south of 15 mile on the east side of the road. Just north of the old theatre.

hmm my top choices would be:

- Mongolian BBQ in downtown Royal Oak on Main St.
- Pizza Papolis in Greektown for fantastic pizza (downtown Detroit).
- Fishbones also in Greektown for seafood
- Mccormick and Schmick on Big Beaver and Coolidge in Somerset Mall Parking Lot
- PF Changs in Somerset Mall or Benihanas on Big Beaver in Troy for Chinese.
- Ruth's steakhouse is fantastic for steak but kinda expensive. If u went to Big Rock you could skip this though

if you're looking for some nice spots where you don't have to sit down and eat I would suggest Brooklyn Pizza in downtown Birmingham and before you leave you HAVE to stop by Chicken Shack on Woodward in Royal Oak for their ribs and chicken. their broasted potatoes are to die for too laugh . damn I'm hungry now lol
