When I do plan on getting something else, the contour stays too. I won't get rid of it! I'm going to be buried in it!! hehe

I dropped a car off at Terry's yesterday that I would buy if the price were right. Maybe Terry can scare the owner into selling it cheap (hint, hint! laugh )

I was gonna sell mine. I have put a lot of money into all the mods and stuff. I was gonna get a 01 GT Convertible, But after looking at how many more stares I get in the Contour Over the yellow Mustang.....That told me something. Also the tour will out handle that thing to hands down. I am going to get the SVT to the next level...somehow

That's the one thing that bothers me about my SVT. Because it's not a straight line performance car it doesn't get the respect it deserves. All of my friends/gearheads that follow racing and realize there is more to cars than just the 1/4 mile time love it. When my best friends father (who used to race for a living back in the day) took me for a ride in his 98.5, I was sold. It just took me until I was out of college to afford/find one...The funny thing is if we could get the svt to, say, a 13 second car with 3-4 K in mods the overall perception among riceburners, crapparo drivers, stang owners would change considerably. But that notion hits in part on why automakers take a great, well rounded performance sedan from europe, and remove or tone down everything to sell it to americans.

It's cheaper to Mod the Contour than to buy a new car. I hope folks aren't selling their cars because they believe they're too expensive to own just to purchase another $25k+ vehicle. That doesn't make much financial sense.

this is also why I've been hesitant to dump tons of money into performance mods, seeing the results of others. Some even lose horsepower! I enjoy the stock performance of the SVT, I can't justify spending 3-6K to add 20 HP and go from mid 15s stock to low 14s.

Modding for looks and modding car audio (all I've done so far) are things that I feel I "get my money's worth". I feel like if I had gone all performance mods I would be left feeling empty as no one has even run a high 13 second quarter mile yet...

But back to the actual topic at hand I'm keeping my SVT, I think in 10 years after an engine swap it will be a car looked back on that was "overlooked" and "under rated". I'm going to pay it off, then get another car. Then my SVT will be a weekend driver, if I can stand to leave it in the morning laugh

It all boils down to what you want. No matter how good you get the car looking or how fast it is. In the end it is still a Ford Contour. Now granted I still don't know if I want to sell it. I have spent alot of time and money into car and I have only had it for a year and a half....
