Heres what you do, go to the quarter car wash and use the engine degreaser and wash the whole engine/compartment down REAL good and rinse. Then drive it for a while to dry it off and use a towel to get the rest of the water off. Next spray your choice of foaming tire shine (the cheap stuff works fine) on EVERYTHING and shut the hood. Your going to have to wash your car because the product, when sprayed out of the aerosol can, will get everywhere, even if you do it in the garage. By the time your done washing your car pop the hood and admire the results laugh If your engine compartment/engine are REAL bad repeat the 1st step 2 to 3 more times. Also the stuff that works the best for a "show shine" is Black Magic tire wet in the aerosol can but it does accumilate the dust after a while but thats ok, just go back to car wash when you don't like it and wash the engine compartment down again and you should still have some of it that "soaked" into stuff wink Good luck!

Target: $5.99 for the engine cleaner in the ato department. I think it is called CD2 or something similar. Search for clean engine in the asthetics forum and you'll find a few threads about it, but the pictures of the box that I remember are no longer posted. I tried it myself last fall and it works great. I also used Simnple green, but it was too cold to have a hose hooked up so it didn't turn out as well as the CD2.

Can you power wash the engine bay??? I always thought it was bad for it!

Just try to avoid spraying any of the electrical connections in the engine bay and avoid spraying the air filter(no brainer there). Really the best is to get some plastic zip lock bags and cover any of the electrical connections that may get hit as well as the filter.
