Yes, so far I'd say working on my 4 Cyl. Passat is far easier than the Contour, but then I don't have the power of the V6 either. Ah, the price of "more power".
Nobody answered yet whether you had to remove a shield under the car to get to the filter. I'm pretty sure I looked up front when I was under there fixing the axle, but didn't see the filter.
