svtwannab, the valentines are about $400, yeah. the pass port 7500 at Best Buy was i think $230 or so....obviously not as good, but it was the best they had. radar detectors don't necesarily tell you exactly where a cop or cops are, but they tell you when one of them (or more than one in valentine's case) has lasers or something similar going off trying to catch speeders. if i would've had one yesterday, i wouldn't have gotten the ticket. my friend in the mustang slammed on his brakes when his went off, i just didnt' see him do it frown

detroitsvt, total so far in tickets (after i pay this one) i think will be about $250ish cuz of a damn parking ticket. i agree it's like cheap insurance, but you really need to get one that works well....or its pointless. do the valentines really work as well as they say?

hellahydro, you said you drive slow unless provoked....i was kidding around by saying come through where i live and i'll provoke you.

Radar detecters are just crutches! Awareness is much more effective than any radar detector made. All they do is make you lazy and annoy you with beeps and flashing lights....BTW, the best story I've ever heard was a guy who worked with me, who was a notorious BSer told me that he got 24 points in one stop. I laughed and told him to show me the tickets. He was drag racing in Detroit. 115 in a 25 (6 points), Drag racing (6 points), ran 4 stop lights during the race (12 points total) and almost broadsided teh cop car, no points but made for a very angry cop. I saw the tickets...he walked to work for the next 6 months and then left because it was winter and he didn't want to walk 2 miles in the snow.

Anyone know for sure, or even about how much a 10 over ticket will be?

But if I fight it, I might end up having to pay for 64 in a 40 as opposed to 50 in a 40. I havn't even considered that though...is it worth it? confused

I never heard of having the infraction increase by going to court. It's worth a try. I only had 1 ticket (i ran into someone with my escort), i fought it and it was dropped.

BTW, I have been pulled over 23 times...only got the one ticket mentioned above, but it was dropped, so i never actually had a ticket on my record.

Well if I go to fight it, the 2 cops who pulled me over will obviously be there. How in the world would I get the ticket dropped?! I was actually well over 64, that just happened to be what he caught me at while I was slowing down.
