I was just out diving my car and I noticed smething was wrong. First of all, ive been havin ths wierd noise comming from the drivers side rim. When Im driving straight or swinging to the left it hones or makes a slight humming noise. Second, I just noticed this right now, when I hit my 4th gear and I gun it, the RPM's goes all the way up but the car isnt picking up as quick as it is supposed to/should, and then while im still gunning it, after hitting about 5 or 6 on the RPM guage, it will come back to like around 3.5 4 and then finally start picking up right, but it takes a while to do that,and its the same with 5th gear. 1st - 3rd are fine though. Does anyone know what this could be?? I have the extended warranty, but the ford dealer in woodhaven, down the street from my house sucks. My dad said that they are probably the best but I told him I think that their customer service sucks because of earlier problems i had with them. Does anyone know of a good ford dealership around thats really good and doesnt really give customers problems and excuses why not to fix the car? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Isn't Ford Southgate an SVT dealership to? I got my car there, but that was two years ago... It could be the gears are loose or something in 4th and 5th. I've never heard of something like that...

Sounds like your clutch is slipping. You probably don't notice the slippage in the first couple of gears becuase it goes by quickly, but the tranny has such a long speed range in the upper gears it will spin and then back down to the point where it lost friction and start again when you let off.

Try Hines Park Ford, in Milford. It is on Pontiac Trail and Milford rd. I have always had excellent service there.

try ed schmid ford in ferndale its on woodward jus north of 8 mile rd. they have the best customer service in the state

Hey, Ya Bigd is right. I live in Milford and I take my car to Hines Park. From what I hear (A few of my friends worked there) is that there trans guy is top notch. In the winter I had a broken shifter assmebly and it was really messed. I got it back like 2 dasy early and it was perfect. One of my friends is having the same problems with his trans. It would rev in 4th or 5th and not go anywhere. They thought it was the clutch and replaced it. Nope! That wasnt it. Its something internal. Havnt found out yet of whats wrong. My friend has a '99 as well.........hmmmmm

man, more bad news. Now its happening in all of the gears. A couple of people told me it could be the trans, but I have no idea. I will take it to the hines park ford in milford if I think my car can make it out there . Thanks for all of the help though
