you know what i love doing? evidently it works wonders except for the wheels of course! Out here in the PacWestCoast it rains like no tommorow. So it's a waste of time to wash the car especially for 6 mths out of the year.
This is what i do:
-while it is raining outside & cold too, I take a bucket and soap and just slosh the soap/water on the car's panels/body etc. and back it back out of garage and let rain water do it's magic.
-not recommended when there is harsh road salt and crap though.
-next day you come out and VOILA! *note* cleaner but not spotless wash job.
