Well my day started out good until about 11am. I was driving around town and got pulled over, I was doing 60 in a 40. The only good thing about the cop was that he only put it for 9 over. The cops here.... "well I wont even say it." I have a court date set for next month, I'm sure that the cop was out of his jursdiction, I called the city I live in and the one there joins up with it. It's a big mess.. The good news is the my supervisers wife is a lawer and he knows the judge that does the triffic court here. So I have to mee with him to see about dropping it and if the cop was in the wrong! mad

In most states, if the police officer is POST certified, he/she is a bonified law officer anywhere in that state.

The guy put you down for 9 over...and you are complaining...you should be thanking him, and just pay the fine. And leave your wife's boss out of it...

It's not my wife's boss it's my supervisers husband, she told me to call him. Everyone Must cower at the site of a cop, I'm not giving in that easy if I have connections I"M using them.

I've been in your shoes. I see both sides of what people are saying.

Were you in the wrong? In the eyes of the written law...without a doubt.

Was the cop out of his jurisdiction? If he tagged you within his city limits, he can still pull you over down the road in another city. As for being POST certified and having jurisdiction anywhere in the US, that is usually under only extreme or extenuating circumstances. Even when a cop is off duty, he still has the obligation to uphold the law, but he's not going to pull someone over for speeding if he's on a day off.

Were you fortunate he only cited for 9 over? Very much so, but not as much if he'd just given you a warning.

As for using any contacts to help you out? You'd be stupid not too. Let's see, you can call on a favor that was thrown in your lap, or you can reject it and instead takes points on your license and likely higher insurance rates. The choice seems relatively clear. I know what I'd do. (C'mon, it's not like you are calling on a lawyer to get you off of some murder charges...)

I love my Contour to death, but my 'vette is still my #1 baby.
There's money to be made in racing. I should know. I put a lot of it there.
You can make a small fortune in racing. Start with a large one.
How fast do you want to go...how much money do you have?
You can fix a lot of things, but you can't fix stupid!

Okay, so I am dislexic smile My main point is you seem to want to rip on the cop, when he gave you a break.

Actually I once went to court for 15 over, going 50 in 35. But it was because I was pissed off at the joke speed limit. It was a 4 lane divided hwy. Found out that limit was lowered to from 45 to 35 back when it was 2 lane road and they never looked at changing it back after they improved it.
