Ok guys, for you that know what this is and plan on getting it. What are you doing about the software...The guy from Turbo Evolution, the one that is selling it on group buy.com charges $150!!!! I almost $hit myself when i saw the price...so what I'm asking is, do you know of any other place to get it? According to this guy greddy released the software, wich could simply be a lie...but if its not I'm sure there is somewhere cheeper to buy it, or maybe one of you compuer peoples could create an image file of the program and put it on kazza or a site...we need to figure something out here guys, I really don't wanna shell out 150 for a cd.

Right now you would just be using it for an air/fuel computer. Once the ignition module is released, you can use it fully.

$150 is a damn good deal though.

$150 just for the software, I don't know, in my eyes thats really expensive. Im used to just downloading it all for free, such as games and what not. I dunno, anyone else have anything to say.

You gotta remember anything dealing with cars and their computers is expensive. Management software is just plain expensive. Here do this....call around to your various shops and ask how much a new computer for your car is. Next, ask how much it costs per hour to program/re-program your computer....You will find that $150 bucks is high or low in comparison to anything else engine management related. I want to see if I can get a hold of the AEM stuff. wink

$150 isn't bad, but it has come up on Ebay before as a copy for much, much cheaper. If it is liceneced software, copies shouldn't be made. I have to wonder why it's not software encrypted though, or at least, it wasn't before they released it to the public. We shall see... I'm waiting for some feedback from Greddy to see if BNM can become a distributor for this product. wink

Because any encryption can be broken. It's almost pointless now to bother. Hear about the new Sony CDs that use some kind of encryption to disallow copying or even playing them in a PC CD-ROM drive? Guess how you beat them - a black magic marker eek

A bit OT, but the protection on the sony CDs is not encryption. It's a data ring on the CD that takes advantage of the fact that PC CD-ROMs will read data tracks before audio tracks to force the PC to constantly loop through some bad data instead of playing the CD. While it's true that some encryption can be broken, on a system like a car where the manufacturer has absolute control over the quality and type of encryption as well as the IO of the system, it's pretty difficult and extremely time consuming to break it.
