currently i have the yoko a520s on there, getting down to there end. (thank the all mighty ****ty roads of Kansas) will never purchase a set of them again. guys i am def. and the road noise on them was horrible. now after spending 4000$ on hearing aids. a quiet tire is going to be a must. that along with the 205, 40 size just wrecked havoc on my kidneys.
any suggestions.
looking at 225 45 17.... on my Momo racers which i believe are 17 x 7.5 ... can it be done with no rubbing issues? currently stock ride height. no springs etc.
or should i stick to 215 45. any input would be greatly appreciated. wish i could get around to taking some pics. to share with you all...

What is the offset on those beasts? I am having some minor rubbing issues with a 215/45/17 and my Koni/Eibach combo, so I wouldn't even think of trying to squeeze a 225 in there. Especially if you ever plan on lowering it. Either way you end up going, with 17s you need the 45 series for comfort and looks, helps to fill out the wheel well a bit better. IMHO, you can't beat the Potenza S-03. Tirerack has them for $144 apiece right now, thats less than I paid for them in March. Quiet as a mouse, and stickier in the wet and dry than the stock KDWs. Did you still want some of the magic Z-stuff?

i am holding out on the Z crack for a while. other then getting these tires. i don't know how much more i am going to put in the tour. although, some baer brakes are calling my name.... wife and myself are at arms about what is going to be done with our vehicle situation. i am wanting a new YZF-R1 or an R6. but says if i get it...i have to get rid of the tour and get a truck....... but she won't bite on the Lightening. so until my motorcycle is in the garage. i am not quite sure what i want to do. As much as our cars are aging, i just can't part with it. I love how people just kinda oggle over it and as what is it?

I had 225/50/16's and they didn't rub at all on my stock ride hieght. But they did suck the reason i got them was i blew out a FIrestone in Milwakee going home one leave. They where like dayton or something they only lasted about 2 months then i punctured a rear tire and just rid of them all toghether.
when i order my rims im probably gonna get Yokohama AVS sports dont' know what size yet.

225/50/ 16 is a completely different story. Thats a 16x6" rim vs. a 17x7.5". So yes you can run a 225 on a 16" rim w/out much of a worry. Hence the reason Buckshot can get away with 245s! . On a 17" rim, you can do it, but be prepared to be rolling the fenders or learning to live with some rub, depending on the offset of the wheel, thats why I asked that above. With my 40mm offset, I have the tiniest amount of rub on my right (passanger) side. And that is with a 215, if I had gone with a 225, my fenders would already be rolled! Go with the S-03s though, you won't be disappointed with the performance or noise levels, and it may be partially b/c of my suspension, but with the 17s and Eibachs it feels just like the stock ride, if not a bit softer. But this is just my $.02

Even though I'm not a Bridge or FireRock fan in the least. The S-03's look like a really good tire from what I've read about them. I would go with either a KDW or S-03 myself. However since you think the KDW's are too loud that kind of narrows your choice down a bit... Personally I can't hear the tires over the intake/exhaust or even the radio myself...

If you have never had other tires on your car, you won't notice the road noise. As soon as I took my snow tires off for the first time, I noticed how loud the KDWs were, even over the stero and exhaust! Demon, did Robbie give you the goods today? I hope he didn't forget otherwise me and him are goig to have to have words, and that means no more Z-6 for him!
