...BIG lot...designed by me and KC LX with heavy duty help from a Formula Ford driver who'd rather go fast than turn a bunch of tight corners. Registration opens at 8 am, closes at 2:00 PM, $20 non-members, blah blah blah, you know the drill. I want to have first car on course by 9:15 because If the weather stays good I expect a very large turnout and we'll be there all damn day.

Sounds good I'm trying to get more people to show from www.fast4doors.com and KCSR and my sister and her husband. We are also trying to get a turn out from SVTOA. Hey when you get a chance post over there at KCSR and tell them what you tell us about time $ etc. I know you will get some to show. Oh and yes I will be there Later

You can't even ****in' READ, much less make a post on the KCSR forums without registering, and I'm reluctant to register.

We're going to start off with 6 because if the weather holds we'll need at least that many. Look at it this way, we had over 120 drivers for the first Crown event, that's 6 full heats, and this time I expect a lot more. I would not be surprised to see 150. That's 7 or 8 heats.
The course may not be as long as the last one at Arrowhead (long course means long time to run the event) but it will be every bit as fast if not more so.
There is one nagging possibility and that is if it becomes apparent that we'll have 150+ people before the first heat starts running we MAY have to limit everyone to 3 runs per heat. I really hate to do that and it's only a last resort but we can't be finishing the event in the dark.

I really hate to do that and it's only a last resort but we can't be finishing the event in the dark. Just my personal opinion, but I'd rather see it limited to 6 heats and give everyone 4 runs. Or, if runs need to be limited because of time restraints, I'd like to recommend limiting the last heats (7-8th) to 3 runs if need be. You won't know right away if you need to do so, and it will be an incentive to get there and register early. I don't feel its fair to let someone register at 4 runs and then change it after you have their money (obviously just one persons opinion; its your event to do with what you will). OH, and please make it just as long--only faster and it won't take as long to run

MFE check your PMs. Oh yeah, don't listen to Roger, he's not right upstairs! He wants a tight course, set up for heavy front wheel drive sedans! The tire smoke, it's finally taken it's toll. If you don't get help at Charter, please get help somewhere! :p

We're not going to limit the number of heats. We're not in a position as a club or as a sport to turn people away because of too much attendance. At the same time, I don't think we're prepared to deal with the ruckus that would ensue if we made first X heats 4 runs, last X heats 3 runs. That's not really fair to people who can't get to the event until later. We got away with an extra run in 1st heat for a while because we often have to make course corrections during the first heat and to be fair we added the extra run. It also worked as an incentive to get people to sign up for 1st heat becuase that used to be a problem. It is no longer an issue, 1st heat fills up fast and the courses are usually good to go right from the start so the extra run doesn't do anyone any good and it's generally gone.
I don't think it'll be necessary to drop to 3 runs but if we've registered or have 120 people standing in line at 9:00 and the first car hasn't run yet, it's something we just might have to consider. I hate to even bring it up because I think it's such an outside chance but I thought it was only fair. I hate that we only usually get 4 runs but any time you have more than about 120 people with courses in the 70-second range the day gets veeeeery looooooong.

You just need to have Heat 1 start early or atleast on time... Last time out it didn't start to like 10am or something... If registering is at 8am then... I'd definitely be one of the very pissed people to find out afterwards that the runs were cut to 3... Definitely strictly control the walking time between runs too. Maybe only 3 times? Before 1, 3, & 5... ...And what about proper classifications... Like a STX class for the car's that should not be allowed in STS!!! (One turbo'd Imprezza & all WRX's come to mind) Just looking of for my fellow 4-door folks...
