I remember that the Mystiques were aimed at women buyers. I have a '95 Mercury promo video and it's a woman showing all the features inside, not saying much about the car's performance.
2000 SE fleet, V6, ATX, ABS, no spoiler, T-Green/tan. Built 01/2000 in MO. Added 12 spoke factory SE rims, K&N. Biggest mod: ESP Plan!

Man, I've been wondering that same thing now ever since I got my 95! Funny, I never thought to ask here. Hahahahah...
It's for hanging things on? Yer shi††ing me? I figured it was just some silly left over from the design.
I love my Contour to death, but my 'vette is still my #1 baby. There's money to be made in racing. I should know. I put a lot of it there. You can make a small fortune in racing. Start with a large one. How fast do you want to go...how much money do you have? You can fix a lot of things, but you can't fix stupid!

I told my 17 year old it's the passenger ejection seat actuator, so she shouldn't play with it..

It's a flip safety for the NOS that was an option (in my mind at least). Or safety for the "Spy Hunter" road slick option for those pesky tailgaters.
'96 Mystique, Zetec, MTX. ---Mods--- Removed both intake resonators and airbox. Installed APC air filter and APC crankcase ventilation filter. Removed exhaust resonator. Installed XM Satellite Radio. Replaced bad alternator and 175a fusible link...much fun! Intake plenum---GONE!!!! My car growls louder than yours. If I can't buy it, I'll build it...Trust Me!!!!
