Yeah, this happened on my dad's 98 Windstar .... TWICE!!!!!! (Once on each front spring.) The humorous part (if there is any) is that when the first one went, this wasn't a recall (yes, on the Windstar too
) so we had to pay to get it fixed. So when the recall notice went though, we just went to the Ford dealership and they handed us a nice big fat $500 refund for spring and tire!
The thing that sucks about it is they only replace the spring with ANOTHER RECALLED ONE, and put a little metal piece on so if this new one breaks, the car won't slaughter your tire. This means that we're still susceptible to falling front ends.
