If you do get a leak its probably becasue the seal or gasket was already worn enough to casue a leak, but it was sealed by a biuld up of gunk on the inside of the engine that was washed away by the cleaner.
If I understand correctly, the gunk buildup actually causes your seals to shrink, or break down in some way, so It's probably a good idea to clean things out periodically. Of course, if you use a good synthetic, you shouldn't have this kind of buildup.
