Name: John Alessi SVT2000Contour@hotmail.com
Year: 2000 31xxx miles
Problem: Clicking noise. Turned out to be a bad wrist pin. Covered under warrenty at Hoffman Ford in Harrisburg. When they put it back together on Friday, it wouldn't start. I hope to have her back tomorrow.
I was told that there is a known problem with the 2.5 engine. If you let the oil go 1/2 quart low and corner hard, you can fry the engine because of oil starvation. I hear that there is an aftermarket flapper baffle you can get, but don't know where.

Threw a rod thru the oil pan in my first engine, Spun a rod bearing in second engine, toasted the tranny last week. Oh yah, The dealership had to replace the same wheel bearing 4 times in 9 months to get in right after they stripped my drive shaft and wrecked the hub assembly and rotor.

Anthony Mata (Amata@ortc.com) 98 SVT Contour San Jose Ca 64,000 Miles Ford says the Engine is Blown (lower end knock). $6,100 to Repair with rebuilt engine including labor. Same story: Well taken care of, maintained oil changes, spark plugs, fuel filter, etc. One day the check engine light comes on, oil light flashes and engine starts to grind. Oh yeah and the 50,000 mile Water Pump went out like clock-work.

The reason these cars always blow up, is because they were originally designed and intended for grammas and senior citizens! All you leadfoots drive them too hard. No, I'm just kidding, but I don't get why mine hasn't blown up yet? I'm a mechanic, and have done all the service like I was supposed to? I do fill it with 6.5 quarts of oil at changes. I wonder if that's what's helped? I guess I just need to drive it faster, corner it harder, and drop the clutch from a dead stop just a little more often, so I can feel like I'm 'part of the crowd'. I'm just feeling left out, I guess?

Kris Milligan (Kris@netwarped.com) 1995 contour SE v6 117k Kilometers Aftermarket Warranty paid for replacment of engine after the block cracked for some unknown reason (??) car left dealership NOT running, tech said it was MSD ignition module that was causing problems, got it taken out and found out that the throttle cable relay thing was broken, dealership didnt want to pay to fix it, i finally marched down there and confronted the manager who finally broke down and paid for the tow back to the dealership, i still got footed with the bill, and when my car drove away it was missing cause of bad wires and the fuse for the tailights and speedo was blown
