i know the feeling...yrs ago i had a vw gti 16v that had problems...even for a vw it had problems...one day at the gas station a young lady comes over to me and starts asking where i bought the car from....

turns out she had known its previous owner...a guy who loved it and died in a motorcycle crash

i believed her because i bought the car from someone who had power of attorney to sell it...he told me the owner was out of town  although technically i guess he was eek

102,000 miles. Still on the original clutch, alternator, water pump and timing belt (I know I live dangerously). Absolutely no mechanical problems whatsoever. On the downside, I've never had to deal with so many recalls as I have with the Contour. frown

66666 miles (yes that is my exact current mileage) on my 2000 SE (bought new in sept 2000)
sometimes it sucks driving this many miles because my warranty expired before I had even had the car for a year and I will have about 120K on my car by the time I finish paying it off. If I keep puttting the same kind of mileage on it. I have only done standard maint on my car still has orginal W/P, cluch, anything else that does not get replaced as standard.

Also my parents have a 95 mystique (bought new in jan 96) with around 150K on it and still has the orginal cluch (that all 5 kids learned/relearned to drive stick on) they just got the waterpumpo replaceed on that one recently.

just about to turn 109k miles. Bought her new in July of '98 (they wouldn't deliver it to me in time for the fourth of July weekend--PISSED!!). She's pretty much all original. Just wondering when the clutch is gonna go. Got some pretty good pinging going on too, even with 89 octane (87 makes it real bad)... This car has a bit of a history when it comes to that. When something major in the engine goes I'll prolly take her to a speed shop and have 'em bore, stroke, polish, tweak and otherwise "do" the engine.

Does Lingenfelter do Contours? laugh

damn....I have 100,101 now, average about 300 miles/week. But this month I'll be celebrating my cars fifth anniversary with me, along with my wifes b-day, in Las Vegas! So, maybe I'll stay ahead for another month or so. Purchased my car new 5/25/97!

The only thing that's been changed is the H20 pump at somewhere at 80k miles. The trans, clutch, motor are all original. I'm planning on some tranny upgrades, as well as more motor upgrades this summer.
