Hi Steve

I lived in Discovery from 1980 - 1989.
I was / still am a member of the Walkersville Fire Co. I'm sure you've seen their "BLUE" Fire trucks !!

I'll post a pic or two for the forum to enjoy.

Good to hear from you. Hey, is that building in Ft. Detrick still "glowing" ?? lol

Ref: the wheels, was wondering if anyone would notice !! lol

Have some (real) wheels on order, can't stand the stock "pie plates" they put on.

You wouldn't believe some of the 'fakes' the Photoshop-gurus on this forum can figure out. No matter how well something's done!!

Anyway, welcome to the forums. Do you ever drive your Fiero anymore? Or has the engine blown up and you don't want anybody to know? wink

Yikes. I work on Detrick (NCI side), so I guess you're referring to 470 ("Anthrax building")? Bartlett took a news crew through it a few months back (during the big Anthrax scare) to show that it's clean, but the damn building is starting to fall apart. Common sense would say tear it down before it collapses, but some idiots want to turn it into a historical building

wow just as the fiero was coming into it's own gm killed it due to insurance skyrocketing on them thanks to bad drivers...which was probably really caused by the crap suspension gm first put on the gt b4 getting it right

I'm not sure it was the suspension that caused crashes--our '84 had the Chevette (yes!) front suspension (much of the original Fiero came straight from the GM parts bin); the '88 had the revised front suspension and it made a huge difference in the feel of the car (the V6 didn't hurt either)...but I never felt the handling of the '84 was unsafe.

Yeah, the 88's "had the right stuff" The redesigned suspension was great.

A spokeperson for GM said "The trend for a two seater car is going down."

(What they weren't saying was, with the planned V8 for 89, it would be faster that the Corvettes so we gotta kill em)

Of course, after killing it, Masda came out with their two seater, Mercedes & BMW with theirs, the Porsche Boxter, on & on. Gee GM, can we say opps !!

Even now, Pontiac is planning the "Solstice" roadster. But noooo, it's a two seater - who wants those !!! Duh !!

Speaking of insurance, I just had the car appraised, it's fully replacement value 20,000.

They wrote up a policy with a car collector insurer for that amount.

There are many riders attached, one is mileage, mine is like 3000 a year. Another was where it was stored, inside a garage or storage unit.

The policy is less than what I'd been paying !! The best part is saving like 600 a year !! Yeah, I like that !!
