hello, did you get underneath and inspect the CV boots? They could have a tear in one and it may have thrown out the grease over time. Look for signs of sprayed grease on the inside fender wells. The way you describe the noise it makes now sounds very much like a bad CV joint. Now you need to determine which side it is on. The passenger side is fun to change because of the halfshaft. Just need to be real careful if you change it. How are your brakes? that's a possibility too(hissing-grinding- click click noise). Good luck, and post your findings and progress later.
