Came from Ford w/ the 2.3L. They offered it starting in '03 in CA, NY (and 1 other "green" state). Starting in '04 it was available in all states as an option. It's a really nice engine...and it has a timing chain so no belts to replace like the 2.0L Focus Zetec.
yeah basically its a mazda engine, as much as I like the zetec, the 2.3L is a better engine... Although, I HATE the way its setup in the engine bay
BUH! must be a PITA to change the spark plugs. Although im happy that car manufactorers putting the engine in the way it SHOULD be. I mean, it makes sence to have the intake manifold at the front and exhaust manifold at the back... What an awesome engine.
UGH! that would make installing a supercharger SOOO EASY!
