With the capless system, Ford said, a spring-loaded door seals the fuel tank and no fumes escape while the car is being filled.
I understand Ford will be phasing in starting in 2008.
This I've got to see, sure hope it doesn't turn into maintenance pain or umpteen recalls?
I know the OBD II evap leak codes have showing up more and more.

Did a google on capless fuel systems all kinds of dinguses!

But it looks good on the envirogreenie side of things. A fuel system that doesn't let out gas fumes when fueling? Hey, we're helping the enviruhment!

already standard on the Ford GT, its a pretty slick setup and I'm glad its trickling down into the rest of the fleet.

Great post.
Does sound like a neat design but I think it might cause some problems. Didn't Pontiac do that with the Aztec?

The fuel door on the GT can only be opened with the key,I'm sure future models with this feature will be the same way.

It ain't quite the same, but I have one of those gas caps BAT sells that does sorta the same. I have not had a CEL due to it in the ~3 years I've had it.
