Phil, I finally got the guys email adress, he is located in Nebraska though. I can get him to bring them over and then deliver down to you the first full week of June (I'm coming to Overland Park for work). Are you still interested in me checking pricing? I think he is going to want a minimum of $275, but I can check. Also, are you the one with the SVT who wanted to trade out some struts, springs for stock stuff? Let me know, I may be interested in doing that.

$250 is the most I'll spend. Any more than that and I can't justify an extra set. Really, they'd just be for the convenience of not having to go get tires swapped out (all-seasons to summers and vice-versa) every spring and fall. I'm going on the assumption that they are in good shape, and do not have tires on them. See what he thinks. I'm not trying to rip him off or anything, I just have a limit as to what I'll spend.
Yup, I'm the guy with the Koni/Eibach setup that may be interested in making a swap for stock equipment. It will probably be sometime this fall (October, November), as that's when I'll purchase a WRX and my wife will take the SVT. She really likes my car, but it's just too low for her taste. Just so you know, the suspension was used for a few thousand miles on Peat Romano's '95 SE, then he swapped entire assemblies with me before trading his Contour in. I've had it on for 33k miles. Not that it makes much difference, but understand that it's essentially a 95-97 Contour suspension, and I think it makes the car sit just a bit lower in front than a typical Koni/Eibach equipped SVT. Handles excellent though, and I'll be sad to see it go. We can discuss it more when the time gets closer, if you are still interested.

I thought it was probably you that had the setup after I spoke with Hiatt and he said Phil. I will check with him and see. I might still be able to get something going for you. I'll let you know next week. I am probably still interested in the setup, but I may not wait that long. I want to set my car up for Auto-X, but the season ends in September usually.
Thanks, Rick

Not sure what you know about autocross, but in a Contour SVT you would probably not want my suspension. Reason being, it will put you into the Street Prepared catagory, and more specifically ESP. This means you would compete against modified Mustangs and Camaro's. Of course, if you have an off-road y-pipe (you are talking about getting one correct?), you're in that category anyway so you may as well have a better suspension!
I think an SVT would be most competitive in G Stock overall, but the new WRX and the old Integra Type R pretty well dominate that class.
Thanks for doing the legwork on the wheels for me. Let me know whenever you find out.

Actually Phil, I am fairly certain that the strut, spring combo will only put me in the STS (street touring stock) class that I all ready have to run do to a KKM intake. I actually think the Contour has a better chance in that class and if it is modded out to the limits, it is really a killer. With Type-R's and WRX's in the G-stock for this year I wouldn't have a chance against a good driver, plus I don't plan to run r-compound tires.

Oh yeah! I always forget about the Street Touring classes. I race an MR2 in C-Stock, so I'm more in tune with the old-school class system. More along this line, I got some info in the mail from the SCCA this weekend stating the new class structure that will be implemented next year. No longer will the SVT be in the same class as the WRX and Type R. Probably still won't be THE car to have in its class, but it should be more competitive at least.
Sounds like your SVT should be pretty solid in STS. I know the Subaru 2.5RS's do well in that class, but you ought to be able to give them a run.
In regard to the wheels, I'm having a change of heart. The opportunity came up this weekend to buy an old S10 pickup for very little money that runs well. If it all goes through, this (having the truck) will make it far easier to haul wheels and tires around to get them swapped out etc. The only reason I wanted another set is for convenience, but now it doesn't look like that will be much of an issue. So, thanks a bunch for doing all the work contacting your guy in Nebraska, but I don't think I'll be going through with it. Sorry about that. I owe you one.

Phil, no problem on the wheels. I may pick them up for a set of track wheels. I haven't decided yet though. I'm either going to get them or go with bigger rims and wheels for street use and turn my originals into track wheels, I just have to decide which to do. I didn't go to too much trouble, just an email, so don't worry about it. I know the Type R and WRX are going to d-stock next year, but the imprezas and v-6 stangs are doing well in g-stock too.
I think I will work on building up a good STS car and it will be faster than I could run in G-stock, plus it doesn't limit me as much as to what I can do mechanically to the car. Hopefully I will get a chance to come down and run the woodlands this year. I am however trying to get a Iowa/ Midwest meet put together in July set up around an Auto-X event. Let me know if you are interested. I will post more details closer to the time and when I get more set up.
