What you wanna do is get your cams in leaving the caps a little loose. Set crank keyway to 11 o'clock (left bank in that picture cylinder #1 at TDC). Install the chain for the left hand bank making sure to use the alignment marks on the crank opposite the keyway (the keyway is NOT the timing mark, the correct mark is about 150 or so degrees from the keyway). Once set, install the tensioner for that bank and release.

Rotate the crank clockwise to the 3 o'clock position (right bank all valves closed). Repeat chain installation as previous bank.

You might have a bit of slack in the chain on one bank or the other but it should be taken up once you start to bar it over.

Normal slack in the chain is taken up during operation by the hydraulic tensioner.
