Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum. I just bought a 1998 Contour SE Sport. It is silver, has a spoiler, sunroof, and the 8 spoke aluminum rims. Its got the 2.5L V6 engine w/ a 5spd trans. It has almost 107k on it. I bought it for $2300 from its original owner.
Now a couple problems that I may need some help with:
Fog Lights- they dont work. Prev. owner says its not a fuse. Light on the dash comes on when the switch is pulled.
Dome Lights- The dome lights do not come on when the door is opened. Also, the headlight chime does not go off when I leave the headlights on. I'm not sure if these are linked, and I did some searching through the forums and found that it may be the door jamb switch?
And I'd like to just say thanks in advance for any help I can get around here. I've dealt with some good people in other car forums, and I'm pretty sure I could get the same here!
Thanks, Dan

Welcome.
With the interior lights/dinger, yes check the door jamb switch. Could be as simple as too much corrosion around the grounding screw.

I have one more question too....
Is there any way to tell if the car is ready for keyless entry? I know that the car has the little alarm light on the dash. The previous owner said that it didnt come with keyless, and I have the original window sticker and it doesnt say it on here anywhere.
So, if it isnt already on my car, would I be better off just buying a basic one from a shop or Best Buy, or is there a Ford one that would be easier and cheaper?

For the keyless, you are better off buying an aftermarket unit anyways, which would run you about the same price as getting new key fobs and getting them programmed from Ford anyways, plus you would have more flexibility.

Welcome . Have you checked if the fog lamps are blown? And do you mean, the chime does not sound when the headlights are on and the door is open? This could be the door jamb switch. Start by pushing the drivers door jamb switch in and out a few times. Sometimes that takes care of it.

My fog lights died and it was because the plugs and bulbs had become so corroded they just kind of broke apart when I tried to unhook them, $20 bucks for proburners, you can't go wrong.
