Just curious as to what I need to plan on doing this weekend. Last I heard, it was a trip to KCIR to watch PhatSVT clean up the city! Merlin, did you hook up with the focus and other people on Saturday? You got your mod on yet? I put my B&M in today, pretty sweet, might order my KKM this week too, got the Mik's Heatshield on the way already. And I am toying with the idea of ordering the Bassani, not huge power increases but hopefully a small gain. May have to go visit MC Racing by the begining of summer! Hey Greg, whats the word on the CD that Tim gave you? ------------------ My Picture Page svt1675@home.com 2000 SVT Contour - Silver #1675/2150 - SRP Racing - Billet Aluminum pedals w/ SVT Engraved - Voodoo Shiftknob - Stereo (Far from original) - Windows Tinted Moderator - Team SVTPerformance www.SVTPerformance.com

I would have my part on, but I am waiting on the part Wensday it will be there I am also going to take my car to Ford to get the O2 Sensors replace and motor mount fixed along with having the seat checked ( little shifting ) heck, might as well have the dash replaced while I am up there I will run with my current setup at the track. Lets see what these mods do compared to my stock time! Guess I will be taking spare and subs out of the back seat I am praying that none of us loose a DIFF! Other wise we will be doing some pushing and doing the Tim K. ...uhh i put it in gear and it made this horrible sound Guys? What time this weekend? I think it is going to be busy. I would suggest we meet up in the parking lot before you go into the pits at KCIR at 11ish. Any thoughts???? Sincerely Merlin

Hiatt:
I would like to get some more GO-GO juice for my car as well (it ran damn good last time on the stuff), so maybe we could stop there on Saturday before we hit the track or maybe meet up Friday. Also, do you happen to know if we would need reservations to get in at the Longbranch, I am in the mood for a good steak and here they are hard to beat. I will know tomorrow if the wife is coming with. so, I'll keep you posted.
PS- Anyone got a helmet I can borrow?
Thanks, Rick

Are you sure you guys want to be running high-test (94+) gas in your cars? It doesn't really help unless you are:
A. Running a really high compression 11.5:1 or higher. B. SC, turbo, or NOS
Running high-test gas may actually slow you down. Why? High octane technically means a fuel's resistance to burn. High compression motors (10:1+) need 90-92 octane because of the increased heat generated by the compression. The high octane is more resistant to burn which means it won't detonate as easily. Forced induction and NOS make HUGE compression therefore high-test gas is needed. Running high-test in a NA motor is pretty much worthless and chances are you are getting a worse combustion cycles (ie less power). A motor runs best when the fuel is right on the verge of detonation. Running high-test takes the motor out of this efficent cycle. BTW, high-test can actually contain lead (to increase octane) and you will quickly burn out your O2 sensors and cat. Merlin, does this sound familiar? I always laugh when I see the NA Honda guys pull up and fill with high-test at the track. All they are doing is slowing themselves down. Just telling you guys my experiences.
BTW, I'll see you guys at KCIR this weekend. I pray none of you loose a differential because KCIR is the only surface I ever experience axle-hop with my car.
Dave

Dave: Very interesting stuff you are talking about. I know you are wuite correct on the reduction of burn rate, because I once wondered if dropping the octane wouldn't increase performance, but then detonation becomes a problem. The only question I have, is the last time I filled up with 100 octane the car seemed to run and respond much more quickly, am I dreaming? I know what my cars feels like on 92 and this seemed like a pretty fair difference. Please let me know if it was indeed percieved performance or possibly because mine is a 2000 and brand new the compression is high enought that the octane does help.
Thanks, Rick
