Normally, when people post about losing loved ones, I think "why post it here". Now I'm that person.

Last Thursday a great friend of mine, Jim (James) Gourlay was killed in a car accident. He was driving up Wellington Road on his way to work in St. Thomas when someone ran a red light on Dingman road and killed Jim on impact.

I didn't think it would hurt as much as it does. He's been a dear friend and mentor for me. I think Rob, Jeff and Marc actually met him once (he was the old Scottish Neighbor in which I shared a driveway with).

His life was cut short, he was looking forward to retirement (less than a year away). He'd always joke with me, saying my car was dirty (knowing I had just finished washing it). I always offered to wash his car, but he never took me up on it.

from a little boy, I'd always help shovel our big drive way. When older I would shovel it for him, because thats the kinda guy I am.

I'd always pop my head over the fence when he was bbqing, and ask him what he was cooking for me. Always he said "nothing".

He was a big man, with an even bigger heart. He'll be greatly missed by more than just me.

I guess typing this out is a bit of therapy for me. Please, do not be a red light runner. Stop for god sakes, it wont get you anywhere any quicker. You put more at risk than just your life.

Thanks for reading

Rest In Peace Jim
