Not necessarily. Stazi hit the 290whp range on his 2.5T with alc. injection and on non-pump gas (dont know the octane). His setup wasnt like most.

I know Blackwidow was no where near 300whp. IIRC he was around 240whp give or take. Maybe he'll chime in and call me a fool

Even if you dont make quite the same power, you are shocking the driveline all at once with N2O. You said yourself you clutch isnt holding! Neither did Randy's. Neither is TRickers. Looks like you have some tranny work to do too!

What are people running with the T28 ADC kit out of the box? Mid to high 200's whp?

Im making 230whp with a 75 shot.. What would bolting on a turbo give me? 290ish??

You just get more power out of a turbo.

This thread sucks because of posts like these. Installing a "turbo" does not give an exact amount of horsepower, nor does installing "nitrous." Take the low boost setting of a T-28 kit(~4psi) and you make probably 230whp. Hmmmm, take a 50 shot with some bolt-ons, and you do the same thing. Go to a higher boost setting on that same T-28 kit and make 280whp. Well, I'll be damned, you can up the nitrous jets and run a 125 shot and do the same thing!

My point being, you don't get more HP from one or the other, just by installing it. Both give relatively similar results when at the same power levels, both HP and TQ. I was making 281HP and 289TQ with my Venom kit, so does that mean I needed tranny upgrades any less than Stazi, in his 295whp and 280wtq turbo car? Mmmmmmm, no.

Not entirely true. Nitrous injection is a sudden surge of power in most cases and shocks the driveline a lot more with the sudden increase in loading. Fun feeling but almost as bad as a clutch drop for durability if you don't have a smoothing feature for the engagement.

Mark,

I think you'll have to agree that the torque due to nitrous injection at some fixed horsepower level is superior to the torque generated by a turbo at the same fixed horsepower level.

Sure at peak power level Stazi's turbo might have had 280 tq and you might have had the same peak torque. Only you will have been producing that 280 tq from a much lower rpm and pretty much as soon as you hit the juice.

That is definitely correct Tom. Maybe I should have worded that a little differently. Point being, at those torque levels(WAY over stock), it doesn't really matter if the power is coming from nitrous, a turbo, or an angry hamster wheel, the stock diff isn't going to take that type of abuse.

I'll tell you what though, riding in Jim's(BeyondloadedSE) car the other day while cruising around, the torque is almost instant upon WOT, even at ~2500-3000 rpms. Even with those big heavy 19"s, he was spinning a bit in 2nd. With the bottle, I would only spin slightly in 2nd, although I was about 50-60wtq lower than what Jim is at right now.

Either way, both are fun as hell if you have a motor and tranny that can take the added power!
