My pc has come under attack twice in the last hour. This last time I caught the address where it was coming from. I'm running Norton which stopped the attack as far as I know. Here's the info so I did a whois.com search on the IP address and it's coming back as Verizon. Verizon is also my service provider. Could it be verizon trying to hack my computer or is it someone from a verizon address?

Time to reload your OS. You have something within your OS causing this constantly.

It's probly just random... A lot of those internet secruity things will block things (and notify) you of simple things like a ping request.
I like my corporate software... I'm authorized to use either Symantec Corporate or McAfee Enterprise on my home computer (any DoD employee is).
I like these corporate AV/Firewalls way better than consumer stuff. I just want it to do it's job and block stuff w/o bothering me (unless something happens, of course).
My favorite consumer choice is Trend Micro's internet security suite... doesn't bother you a whole lot like Norton or consumer McAfee.
I really can't stand those firewalls that ask you EVERY time if you want to allow a program to connect to the internet (hello ZoneAlarm!). Even after you select the box and say it's ok for every program you use, it will notify you of the slightest change (like if you update, all bets off).
Recently, Windows Defender has been bugging me... it's always asking me to review some things it came up with. I liked the old MSAS that would just list it when you opened the program.
I also like Sophos AV, but good luck with that since you have to subscribe to get it.

How bout just closing off all but 2 or 3 ports. Been working good for me. Run windows firewall which doesn't do much, but virus programs only pop up occasionally blocking trojans from pr0n sites. My pc ain't had but one problem from stuff like that and it was the one that hit nearly every windows computer that would do the restarts and that was easy to kill.

My McAfee or Norton never bothered me as it blocked. It's simply a matter of user settings.
I like Zone Alarm better, which again blocks without bother if set properly.
