All Contours have the same open diff, but it seems earlier verions were machined and later models were cast. I don't have huge power, but mine's taken 155k of hard launches and wheelhop.

Maybe read up a little on the types of differentials.

I have my stock Diff. Most of the time you hear about a diff being replaced is when it was being abused. I know they are weak and should have been upgraded by svt. I will upgrade mine when the stock on fails.But i see no sence in dropping the trans unless there is a reason (broken diff).




You realize that when your diff detonates that you wont have a trasmission to replace parts into right.. Its not liek the diff cracks and nothing happens.. BAD THINGS happen.

On a side note, if you wanna make some fun power, just use a 50 shot and be done with it, WAY more fun than exhaust or whatnot (IMO)

i just said i DID read up on them. wether or not it was false info is beside the point.
