Install a Strut brace
Both of my cars have windshield cracks, with the instalation of the strut brace the cracking stoped. I've replaced the windshield on that car, with no cracking. The car with no brace continues to crack.

Seriously? You must me kidding!

Good idea. Unfortunately I happen to know that they don't have any money.

If anyone needs to be sued over it, it is me. I should have known better.

Luckily we live in Massachusetts (did I just say that? You will never hear that again from me, LOL) and you can 1 free windshield every year or two. My wife called our insurance co. and they arranged for a company to come replace the windshield today. Then we just need to get it inspected (should have been done in June) and the van is good to go. She is worried about the tires though, and whether or not they will pass. But, it doesn't really matter, we won't have this van much longer anyway. If they give is an "R" for tires we will have 60 days to fix (I think) ... It will be gone before that.

IMO it's not even worth involving the insurance or get comprehensive for that purpose. My comprehensive deductible was high (~$350) in order to reduce the annual premium. My windshield replaced whilst parked at work only cost me around $170. Unless you have real low deductible (and therefore high premium) it's an out-of-pocket item. PLPD, which is what I have now, will save you enough money for a new windshield every couple of years, at least mine does.

It happened to me in my Contour as well. Be careful - in MA you must have comprehensive insurance in order to get a windshield replacement. You don't need collision, but liability only won't cut it. Getting the glass replaced cost me $250 out-of-pocket because I only had liability on the Contour.

No deductible on glass in Mass. It is free. And comprehensive costs almost nothing a month. It is definately worth it.

Yes, there is no deductible on windshield replacement in MA. We have comprehensive as we don't own the van. It is already scheduled for later today, $0.
