This can be said of so many great cars that are still considered great.

Early 911s, old C and E-type Jags, any number of "small British Cars (SBCs)," BMWs, etc.

Automitive technology continues to improve, allowing more power from smaller, more efficient packages, and sportscar-like handling (via stiffer, safer chassis) from "unlikely" vehicles.

The fact that a current Honda Odyssey minivan can beat a late-60s 911E on an autocross course does not diminish the 911 in any way.

Likewise, the SVT Contour will always be a classic, at least to a knowledgeable few.
