Truck sales are down hugely this year across the board, anywhere from 20 to 50% depending on the model. GM truck sales are down three-hundred thousand units over last year. So obviously "the next person" isn't buying them right now either.

Right now the best that GM can hope for with a new truck is stealing sales from Ford, Dodge, and the new Tundra, in an ever-decreasing market for trucks. Fighting for scraps basically.

I know that sales are going down with the recent hikes in gas prices, but soon everyone will get used to the high prices and they will forget about all of this and not let gas prices choose the vehicle they buy. Plus, with DoD and technologies similar, the gas mileage is nowhere near as bad as it could be. I know for myself, I will not let gas prices affect what I buy within reason. Obviously I am not going to go out and buy something with a combined mileage of barely double digits, but I am not going to force myself to buy something with 30+ mpg. In fact, once GM announces the production of the new Camaro (which is supposed to be THIS Thursday), I will begin putting money aside for one regardless of the advertised gas mileage.

I hope everyone is ready for gas prices to rise again.
