I could live with a small avatar. As it is, you generally ignore everything to the left edge, unless you're looking for who wrote a post. But the crazy graphical sigs completely destroy the flow of the threads and make them hard to read.

Avatars would be cool as long as its a picture of your car or something. I hate it when people have animated avatars that flash all sorts of different bright colors and distract from the actual page
